Hello March!

The Daffodils are in bloom, the days are getting longer, and Saint Patrick's Day is around the corner!

I thought it would be fun to research and share a few March facts.

Not a surprise to me, if you were born in March, your birth flower is a daffodil! I love to see these flowers show up every year!

One year used to be 10 months long staring in March and ending in December on old Roman Calendars!  By there calendars I am a lot older than I thought I was!

This year during the Vernal Equinox which is March 20th at 5:24 p.m. sun is directly above the equator!  What does this mean?  It means the day and night are equal length!

March and June finish on the same day of the week, every year!

The Romans deadline to settle debts was called the “Ides of March” was considered to be March 15th.  Coincidentally it was also the day Julius Caesar was assassinated.

Every year animals start waking up from hibernation in March!

March 17th is Saint Patrick’s Day which commemorates the day Saint Patrick died.

Alexander Graham bell also made the very first phone call on March 10, 1876 to his assistant.  What did he say?  “Mr. Watson, come here. I want to see you.”  He’d be amazed how far that technology has progressed!

The first month of spring is March and is normally between 19th and the 21st.  In South Carolina this year that’s March 20th!
