At Jeff Lynch, Some Things Are More Important than Sales

You might think you know what’s important to Mark Lynch, president of Jeff Lynch Appliances, Electronics, Bedding, and Furniture. A quick visit to the website describes the company’s Lowest Best Price Guarantee, its commitment to customer service, its knowledgeable sales staff, and its passion – not mission – statement:

“We at Jeff Lynch Appliance and TV Center commit to our customers a Total Happy Experience. We will provide the finest staff to know what our customers want, and we will see to it that they receive it! After all, we work for the customer!”

But if you think sales are the most important thing to Mark, you’re wrong. Since he was a young man working for the company founded by his father, Jeff Lynch, every decision Mark has made has been guided by a deep and abiding Christian faith and a desire to be a good steward of all his blessings.

Jeff Lynch Appliances, Electronics, Bedding, and Furniture was founded in 1951. When Mark was in his mid-twenties, he had an experience that forever changed him.

“I was having a ‘God moment’ at the end of the workday,”

he explains. “My father had given me a picture of a businessman with Jesus, and while looking at it, I hit my knees to pray. Suddenly, I had an overwhelming notion that I don’t own anything, that nothing belongs to me, not my family, not things, nothing. What I realized is that God owns everything, and I developed a conviction to practice good stewardship of all my blessings”

To that end, Mark begins each day with the Prayer of Jabez, found in 1 Corinthians.

“I start my morning with the prayer that my whole family will be blessed and that I am willing to serve His will in the bigger picture. My number one goal is serving Jesus, and what I know is that through my business, God lets me meet people and do big kingdom things. God is the nucleus of our company and culture! Our Chapel is where we receive our training of God’s word. We have a pastor on staff and another that teaches twice a week, first thing in the morning. All of this comes before store stuff. Our chapel is called the Carlos Watson Chapel, and it is named for our first pastor. While he had pastored many churches, Watson said to me once, ‘If I could do it all again, I’d do this full time. This is the real thing because we meet people where they are.’” Mark’s outreach doesn’t just extend to his employees.
Jeff Lynch Appliances, Electronics, Bedding, and Furniture supports many charities in the
community. Mark is also interested in the world beyond Greenville, and
he currently serves as president of the United Patriots Alliance, an organization that is dedicated to protecting the freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. You can learn more about this organization by visiting unitedpatriotsalliance.com. Mark’s wife, Sarah, their son, Cole, their daughter, Stevie, Stevie’s husband, Alex, and the best staff in the universe work to assist Mark on his mission at Jeff Lynch Appliances, Electronics, Bedding, and Furniture.

“There’s just a joy in the workplace because it’s an awesome place to come,” Mark says. “We have been successful because our faith guides everything we do. You don’t stay in business for 73 years by ripping people off or not standing by our products. Every day, we find a way to give our customers an awesome experience. We’re closed on Sundays to allow our employees to attend church and spend the day with their families.”
